There are 2.3 million vehicles in Istanbul, and every day, 1,000 new vehicles are added to this number. This growing figure is not only intensifying traffic problems but also escalating the parking issue in the city. To address this problem, four undergraduate students from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) developed the mobile application Parkkolay, with the slogan “The easiest way to park!”
Parkkolay displays parking locations on a map along with details such as price, availability, and occupancy rates. It also provides additional information like valet services, car wash availability, whether the parking is open or closed, and other features, helping users choose the most suitable parking spot in just one minute.
What sets Parkkolay apart from other apps in the market is its reservation feature. After selecting a parking lot, users can choose the date and time they plan to arrive and reserve a spot in advance—potentially saving up to 110 days of your life otherwise spent looking for parking.
Additionally, Parkkolay guarantees the reliability of each parking lot listed in the app, as they have individually inspected and partnered with each facility. A feature allowing users to pay via credit card is also expected to be added in the coming months.
The Parkkolay team currently consists of seven members, all of whom are ITU undergraduate students with diverse academic backgrounds, working together as young entrepreneurs.
