Scoutium is a crowd-sourced football scouting platform that creates a marketplace for football fans, players, and clubs, and is preparing to make an impact on the game worldwide, starting from Turkish football. The initiative aims to solve the problems of unscouted football players and clubs making transfers without sufficient information about players by involving millions of football fans who are ready to give more to football.
Scoutium started its operations in April 2017 at the ITU ARI Teknokent’s ITU Çekirdek Incubation Center, with the idea coming to life after three founding partners decided to make it a reality. The team consists of students and alumni from ITU, METU, and Bogazici University. Scoutium collects player evaluations from football fans in professional formats determined by experts, processes them with advanced algorithms, and provides clubs with a broader and healthier pool of information about players. The system also identifies users who make accurate assessments and are inclined towards football scouting. These users are interviewed by professionals, and those deemed suitable are certified as ‘Scoutium Scouts.’ These selected users are then allowed to carry out paid tasks opened by clubs and players.
The Scoutium team receives consultancy and technical support from clubs such as Göztepe, Kasımpaşa, and Sivasspor, alongside the mentorship opportunities provided by ITU Çekirdek. Giving football fans the chance to prove their scouting abilities through its website and mobile application, Scoutium first meets the significant demand of the Turkish football industry, which includes approximately 600,000 licensed football players, 7,000 clubs, and tens of thousands of football professionals. Afterward, Scoutium plans to expand into the global football market, which includes 50,000,000 players and 400,000 clubs. The company also aims to contribute to sports globally by discovering talented athletes and scouts worldwide, not limited to football.
Most recently, Scoutium became one of the finalists at the ITU Çekirdek 2017 competition, taking the stage at the Big Bang event, and was one of the top three startups that received the most investment and support.
