HAGELSON

About This Project

Hagelson is a polymer technology company focused on the recycling of waste and scrap carpets.

The company boasts a young and dynamic team of polymer engineers. Since 2016, they have been developing their technology with grants from TÜBİTAK, KOSGEB, and various institutions, and have completed the commercial prototype. The team set up the commercial prototype at a facility in Yalova and has already taken the project a step further by putting it into action. They collect waste carpets from hotels, corporate buildings, and factory scraps, and instead of turning them into non-recyclable products like insulation materials or felt, they produce reusable plastic raw materials from these wastes, demonstrating an excellent example of advanced recycling.

The plastics produced are especially suitable as raw materials for automotive plastic injection production parts, which has led the team to focus on producing products for the automotive sector. The team is confident in their products, offering advantages such as 99% purity, 95% compatibility, reduced costs, quality, continuity, and sustainability to their customers. Highlighting that Turkey generates 240,000 tons of waste carpets annually, accounting for 1% of the country’s total waste, the team aims to reach more waste carpets, reduce landfill waste, create economic value from these waste materials for the country, provide a new raw material source for the automotive plastic industry, and leave a better world for future generations through eco-friendly activities. In fact, when Hagelson recycles 1 ton of carpet, it prevents 32 tons of water pollution, stops the emission of 2,500 kg of toxic gases, and provides numerous other environmental benefits.
