Parxlab: A Startup from İTÜ Çekirdek Digitizing Parking Spaces
One of the biggest problems in metropolitan cities today is traffic. Of the factors contributing to traffic, one of the main ones is drivers searching for parking spaces, which accounts for 30% of the traffic. Additionally, parking management in cities is critical from multiple perspectives.
In this context, the Parxlab initiative has developed wireless sensors that provide data at parking spots without the need for battery changes for many years. These sensors collect data at the parking locations, which is then processed by the artificial intelligence system Parxlab has developed. This system not only shows available parking spots to the drivers and provides route guidance, but also enables parking fees to be paid via a mobile app. On the business side, it provides data that allows the autonomous management of the parking lot.
Parxlab’s sensors do not only provide occupancy data at the locations they are installed. They also offer predictions for parking availability on streets without their devices and suggest the nearest empty parking spots to the user. Similarly, the system provides convenience for users by guiding them to the parking spot and enabling easy payment.
For businesses, Parxlab helps optimize the use of parking spaces with dynamic pricing and plays a key role in reducing traffic congestion in cities.
In the future, with the rise of autonomous vehicles, Parxlab aims to be a global solution for the challenges of finding parking spots and paying parking fees.
Parxlab was one of the Top 20 startups at the Big Bang 2019 event.
