About This Project

Hootsumo is a startup that provides communities with image, voice, and messaging channels.
Available on both web and mobile platforms, the application supports anonymous access and eliminates time-consuming processes like installing and setting up desktop software. While offering easy access to communities, Hootsumo also emphasizes usability and ease of management.

Entrepreneurs Gürkan Akdağ and Alaattin Cate joined the İTÜ Çekirdek incubation program during its second call and began developing Hootsumo in July 2017, after pivoting their original business idea within the program.

Unlike traditional team communication tools like Slack or Stride, Hootsumo is designed to meet the unique needs of online communities, including support for large-scale user engagement within a single messaging channel. With its protocol-independent architecture, Hootsumo can establish bridges between various messaging platforms, allowing seamless integration. Currently, the platform supports bridges to IRC, Slack, and Gitter, enabling users to send and receive messages or communicate with contacts across all connected chat channels.

Backed by the network and support of İTÜ Çekirdek, Hootsumo has now shifted its focus to international growth.
