Facilis Racing: Revolutionizing Race Car Setup with Auto Leveler
In automobile racing, the two key factors that determine the results are the driver’s skill and the performance of the car. The element that defines performance is revealed during the preparation of the race car for the track. Race cars go through an intense preparation process before every race, and the most crucial task in this process is adjusting the wheel angles. These settings are made according to the track, car, driver, and race engineer’s preferences, and vehicle dynamics are adjusted to the desired specifications. However, to make this adjustment, the car needs to be placed on a flat surface first. Currently, all products on the market rely on manual labor to prepare a flat surface. The process takes about one hour and requires at least two mechanics, but it never achieves the desired precision. As a result, the wheel angles cannot be perfectly adjusted, and the car dynamics do not reach the expected shape.
Facilis Racing focuses on the preparation of race cars for the track. Their first product, Auto Leveler, automates the process of preparing the flat surface for wheel alignment. As a result, the time required for this process is reduced from one hour to just about 3 minutes, and the need for two mechanics is reduced to one. By almost eliminating manual labor and utilizing high-precision sensors and actuators, the flat surface is prepared with much higher accuracy. This allows the wheel angles to be adjusted exactly as desired, ensuring the car’s dynamics are set to the required specifications.
The Facilis Racing team, with their previous racing and automotive engineering experience, began working on the project in August 2019. In its early months, the team was selected as one of the Big Bang 2019 TOP20 startups and earned the opportunity to present on stage. In 2020, they aim to present their prototypes to their first customers in track and rally races and then expand into European and global markets.
