TOYJİ

About This Project

Led by Cem Nahit Köne, Rahim Öner, and Can Soylu, the Toyji project aims both to develop the linguistic, social, and conceptual skills of young children who spend too much time in front of screens and technological devices, and to address communication breakdowns within families.

Toyji, which works in harmony with Android and iOS tablets, functions simply by moving toys on a small panel, which are then synchronized to move on the screen. There is no keyboard, control device, or touchscreen involved.

During these games, children receive both educational and entertaining lessons on topics such as health, hygiene, eating habits, plants and animals, music, traffic rules, and counting.

Another nice feature of Toyji is that you can set the toy according to the child’s mealtimes and sleep schedule. So when it’s time to go to bed or brush teeth, the characters on the screen say and do things to encourage the child. Additionally, when your child shows an interest in a specific area, the program notifies you. For example, if the child shows a special interest in firefighting, it encourages you to take them on a tour of a fire station.

Toyji is currently raising funds on Kickstarter. The project, which has received great interest, has already raised $15,000 in just four days. To get Toyji, 3 figures, and 1 game, the required amount is $89, which is well below the regular sales price of $200. The platform, which can also be used as a nightlight, offers many extra features—such as the ability to 3D print and paint your own characters.
