ROFOODS MICRO MARKETS

About This Project

As efforts and demands to improve employee productivity and satisfaction continue to grow worldwide, micro markets offer practical solutions to support this trend.

What is a micro market?
Micro markets are a self-service solution that go beyond the capabilities of traditional vending machines by offering over 250 types of food and beverages, easily accessible from coolers and shelves. Thanks to innovative technologies, micro markets provide customers with convenience in both use and payment. This system focuses on the diverse needs and preferences of consumers in every workplace, tailoring the service specifically for each environment. As a result, micro markets offer a valuable and realistic solution for enhancing employee satisfaction and workplace productivity.

In the micro market, you can find a variety of “Personalized Healthy Products” such as snacks, natural goods, diet/form products, seasonal vegetables, salads, sandwiches, and fresh fruits. There are even microwave ovens available for heating your meals. This concept offers users an on-site “grab-and-go” model without limiting their choices. Payments can be made either through the Rofoods mobile app or via kiosks located in the market, using credit cards linked to the system.

Create a Health Card
The micro market system can track the calories of the food you consume and, through voice interaction with your smartphone, transfer the nutritional information to the app. This allows users to monitor their diet and health directly through the application.

How and Where It Started
The initiative launched its pilot program at the İTÜ MAGNET building, where it was well-received and started gaining traction in line with its goals. The company aims to achieve rapid growth by capturing the imagination of both current and potential customers. In the U.S. — where the concept first emerged and remains the most widespread — the number of micro markets grew from 1,000 in 2011 to over 35,000 expected by 2022, reflecting the concept’s growing popularity.
